Detailed Description - Immerse Yourself in Sound
Fantastically small, fantastically sounding—that’s what our Nanosat® 5.1 home theater system is all about. In fact, it’s your ticket to a sold out concert or movie premiere without having to leave the comforts of home.
Each satellite employs a powerful 2.75-inch titanium deposit polypropylene cone woofer for amazing bass performance and a 0.75-inch pure titanium hybrid tweeter for warm, rich high frequencies. The 75-watt RMS powered subwoofer with an 8-inch driver blends seamlessly with the satellites, adding a level of low-frequency performance you can hear and feel.
But what really separates this system from the rest is a patented Omniguide module, an ingenious design that involves two deflectors, employed on all five satellites. While one deflector rests on top of each speaker’s tweeter, the tweeter itself is housed in a deflector, suspended over the woofer. These combined elements distribute sound directly towards the listener, as well as reflect it off walls, ceilings and other surfaces—resulting in a perfect 360º soundstage. More importantly, you’ll hear the same enveloping performances from anywhere in your room.
You’ll also discover this speaker setup easily fits anywhere and in any type of environment. It features a classy brushed black aluminum finish on the satellites and a black satin finish on the subwoofer, making it a welcomed addition to your room. Furthermore, the satellites come with endless placement possibilities. While included brackets make wall mounting a breeze, they also sit nicely on a shelf or table. But if neither option works for you, the satellites can be mounted to an optional MS-STB floor stand. The unobtrusive, yet extremely powerful, subwoofer can be neatly tucked away in a corner out of direct view.
Adaptable and versatile, the Nanosat 5.1 is truly unique. Sure, there are other small speaker packages out there, but none that look and sound as amazing as this one. In fact, after experiencing its immersive 360º sound, you’ll immediately dub traditional designs passé.
The Science Behind the Mirage Sound: Exclusive Mirage Technologies
Omnipolar® Sound
Our Omnipolar approach to speaker design brings unprecedented performance to a variety of product sizes and room positions. This 360º sound philosophy works with your room, rather than against it, to create the proper proportion of direct and reflected sound. Being Omnipolar means our speakers embrace and optimize reflections; offer excellent imaging, width and depth; and perform optimally regardless of where they are placed in a room. In other words, they take full advantage of the fact they cannot be separated from your room. You get a completely immersive experience that permeates evenly throughout your entire listening environment.
Omniguide Technology
Our patented Omniguide module (patent #6,996,243), also the heart of Omnipolar sound, is an ingenious design that involves two deflectors. While one small deflector rests on top of the speaker’s tweeter, the tweeter itself is housed in a larger deflector, suspended over the midrange or woofer, depending on the design. The module disperses sound the way the ear and brain are accustomed to receiving it. Thirty percent of what our speakers deliver is direct sound. The other seventy percent is sound reflected off walls, ceilings, floors and other surfaces for a completely immersive, 360º experience. So, no matter where you sit, the enveloping sound follows.

What the experts are saying about the Nanosat 5.1 System…
CNET, Steve Guttenberg (March, 2009) “Mirage's gorgeous Nanosat 5.1 Home Theater System may be small, but it produces a huge, room-filling sound for music and movies.”
“[the] sound bouncing/reflecting technology creates a truly immersive, room-filling sound.”
“The Mirage Nanosat 5.1 system really shines with its surround sound performance. The way it creates an immersive, wrap around soundstage can't be replicated by similarly priced box speaker systems. In addition, the Nanosat 5.1 has a sweet, refined sound that's easy to listen to over extended periods of time.”
“For the money, the Mirage Nanosat 5.1 is one of the best "lifestyle" satellite/subwoofer systems we've heard.”
What Hi-Fi? Sound And Vision (December, 2008)
"This system integrates confidently, with the sound enveloping us as we listen."
"Smart, solid styling; excellent cohesion; exciting, fast listen; good with music too."
Look en Listen, Thomas Van Den Bossche (May, 2008)
"The Nanosats are very compact and are very well finished-The Subwoofer, a small cube, is also very well finished"
"In short, we highly recommend this system."
AV Guide, Chris Martens (May, 2005)
"The Nanosat system, like any small system, has dynamic limitations you must observe, but as long as you play within the system's capabilities, it will reward you with sound that is at once enveloping and exciting, yet also relaxing—a very tough combination to pull off."
"Compared to most systems at this price, the Nanosat offers superior imaging smoothness and three-dimensionality, greater freedom from edginess, better subwoofer integration, and reasonably neutral tonal balance that equals the best I've heard in this class."
Home Theater & Sound, Doug Schneider (September, 2004)
"...in terms of appearance, I rank them at the top of the pile. But what makes the Nanosats really special are the results of Mirage's Omnipolar technology: a large, spacious sound that belies the speaker's size, and the superbly cohesive soundfield you get from five identical speakers."

This review is from: Mirage Nanosat 5.1 Small High-Performance 5.1 Speaker System (Electronics)
What can I say about these speakers? Wow. We had a couple of JBL front speakers before, that were about 4 feet tall, good quality, along with a sub-woofer that was about 50% larger than the sub on this set. We wanted to upgrade to a surround system, and get rid of the larger speakers. We thought about going with the Bose satellite system, until we read some of the reviews. We eventually found these, and are certainly glad that we did.

I left the JBLs hooked up to see the difference, and what a difference! The sound is much more crisp and clean in the Mirage speakers. You wouldn't know that this amazing sound is coming from these small speakers. These speakers are very well constructed (they feel heavy for their size), and pack a powerful punch.

The only complaint I have is with the design if you're going to be mounting them on the walls. The bottom is completely flat and ugly. We only mounted one on the wall (were able to place the others in bookcases, etc...) and we had to turn that one upside down because the other way would have made it look strange.

All things considered, we would certainly buy this again.
