I bought this vacuum at walmart for $60 and then I bought my daughter one as well because it works so well.  We have two cats and it picks up cat hair like no other vacuum I've ever had.   I used wood filler on my deck and sanded it and used this vacuum to pick up the dust.  Needless to say the whole thing got mucked up with dust.  But this thing is completely washable.  Your disassemble the canister and hoses wash out the filter and all the components, put it all together, run the vacuum to dry it out, voila good as new.  It takes 5-10 minutes.  Try that with most vacuums.  Good luck to you.
